Egg-ceptional!

Ok, I am ruined. We have all heard of farm to table. Wonderfully fresh food from local farms delivered to nearby restaurants. Delicious!

But have you ever tasted warm fresh eggs, right from the hen?? Nothing compares. As you might expect, they are “nonconformists”, with differences in size, color, speckling, etc. And those golden yokes – just delicious. You truly can taste the difference.

Fortunately for us, we have Italian friends who are happy to share their fresh eggs, and we are most happy to cook them in a variety of ways.

So, I’m ruined. It’s hard to imagine that I can ever purchase a dozen “matching” eggs at a large supermarket again.

But farm fresh eggs – any way we cook them, they are egg-ceptional!

    I already think eggs in Italy taste so much better (almost sweeter?) than they do in America so I can’t imagine how great these must be!!

    The latest thing here in California is keeping your own chickens.
    In Silicon Valley they collect exotic kinds that lay green, blue and speckled eggs. At parties they no longer take California wines but present their hosts with baskets of fresh multicolored eggs.
    Obviously your opinion of fresh eggs is shared by the Tech community, Judy.
    They have to watch out for the Coyotes and Cougars though. Do they still have to guard against foxes in Italy?

      Same problem In Italy with the foxes. I like the idea of giving eggs to the hostess. I guess I’ll have to throw more parties!

    Now my stomach is growling. In Italy I’ve eaten delicious eggs that I purchased from little shops who got them from their friends’ backyard chickens, but I haven’t ever had one warm right from the hen. You make it sound even more tempting, but now I have to go into the kitchen and get a snack.

        Ha, ha, no. I hadn’t ever thought about an egg for a snack, but it’s a good idea. I went with chocolate chocolate chip ice cream …
